About

My name is Chris Marino.  I’m a 34 year old fitness enthusiast and personal trainer who caught the running bug a little more than 3 years ago.  Although I have been athletic my entire life I had always avoided running as a result of my experience with exercise-induced asthma as a child.

A little more than 3 years ago I got on a treadmill to “jog” with a friend.  At the time I had been training as a powerlifter.  All I can say is that I found out how deconditioned I really was.  From that point I was determined to balance my conditioning program and challenged myself to become a runner.

I set my goals a bit lofty and ran my first 10-miler within a year of just getting started.   Unfortunately, my training had resulted in virtually every injury known to runners.  Over the following two years I’ve spent countless hours researching the best ways to run to eliminate my injuries and enhance my enjoyment of running.  I also realized that my personal challenges were so common that other runners might benefit from learning how I conquered them.

I hope my experiences can help those people who view this site to avoid the pitfalls I made and ultimately discover the joy of running.
